When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was 5 I wanted to work with animals.
That was all I ever wanted but I wasn’t sure in what capacity.
The theme for every birthday and Christmas was animals.
I loved all animals but especially dolphins I remember.
Many years later in Australia I was able to touch and pet dolphins.
There is a bay where the come into the shallows and they are very friendly it was a life long dream.
We only had cats, we were never allowed a dog but still I dreamed of one day working with them.
When I was about 13 I gave up willingly eating meat.
I’m not sure of the prompt but I decided I just didn’t want to eat them.
The animals we tend to eat are gentle, peaceful animals.
There were cows in a field by my house, and I’d walk past feeling so guilty.
That themselves don’t eat meat but yet we eat them?
It felt all wrong to me.
It wasn’t until about 7 years later that after falling ill with a form of meningitis I started eating meat again.
My friends were astonished as in those days it wasn’t fashionable to not eat meat and they’d teased me about it for years.
I eat meat now but try and limit it.
I still love all animals and if we had more land and more time I’d have more animals.
We as humans could learn so much from animals.
