Morning…….

The day in our house starts early, it’s still dark in Europe as I look out the window I can see the rain reflecting in the puddles, the trees bent over.

Its raining, that miserable misty rain that covers your face with a sheen much like sweat.

I as climb out of bed and find my slippers I pad quietly down the stairs.

The house has that smell of last nights dinner, shoes are cast away by the radiator a couple of school bags on the floor.

As I turn the kitchen light on the cats wait, patiently in the dark next to the cupboard they know their food is stored.

They begin their mantra miowing constantly till I give in to their demands.

It’s a power struggle with these two. Absolutely no patience.

Sometimes I give in and just get them some treats to shut them up before they gobble up a couple then jump down in a defiant manner as if to confirm that they won that battle.

Today Im tone deaf to their demands they can wait I need coffee…

As the kettle boils I potter around putting bits in the bin, beginning the mundane task of emptying the dishwasher.

My mind isn’t really on the task as Im alert to he kettle boiling I need it fast.

As I pour my coffee into my favourite mug with just the right amount of milk I pad over to my chair in the living room.

Its still slightly chilly the heating hasn’t properly kicked in so I grab a blanket from the sofa and curl up my feet underneath me and look to see what the world has been up to while Ive been asleep.

As I sit I quietly in my chair I hear the all too familiar sounds of alarms going off, toilets being flushed, little feet scurring upstairs.

Chloe my dog climbs off the sofa with immediate downward dog yoga pose.

Seeing me she trots over, she knows the routine soon she will get a walk her tail is wagging.

And if she lucky a small scrap of meat or cheese from the sandwiches I will make.

And the day starts again…

Thank you
