Years ago when I was working in London I was earning good money. I was in my twenties, no dependants all my money was my own.
Birthdays were special as they are when you are single, and as my birthday was at the end of the summer it was always glorious weather.
I’d buy myself gifts all the time, expensive makeup, perfume all I’d buy myself.
I’ve always been embarrassed to receive gifts.
It always touches me that someone had gone to the effort, I’m always grateful whatever it is.
One of my best friends as a thank you bought me and her a balloon ride. She knew I loved balloons. That was amazing I loved that and will always remember it.
But, without doubt the best gifts I have ever received have been from my children.
Mother’s Day I’ve had some really useful gifts.
Painted watering cans, key holders, framed pictures.
The thought, time and effort that goes in is worth so much more than money.
There faces as they watch you open them. So excited. I love them x
