I had to think about this before I answered.

There have been so many significant inventions in the last forty years.

But I’d say definitely the internet and mobile phones.

Although in lots of ways they have given us freedom.

Freedom to find information about anything and everything in a moment they have also imprisoned us.

When I was younger I’d be sat in library’s cramming for exams now it’s so accessible so easy so isolating almost.

In summers I’d be out on my bike with my friends all day. Yes sometimes I was bored we all were, but we’d find things to do.

We only have 4 TV channels so we had to.

Life was simpler easier almost.

You wanted to talk to your friends you either called them on the house phone or went round and saw them.

It was as easy as that.

I believe despite the benefits they have created so many problems.

To be so connected all of the time to never ever be away from technology . Never able to escape.

I read about children with depression and anxiety, problems that were alien to kids when I was growing up.

Yes the times were not without problems but it seems everything is so magnified now.

Children are far more insular and self aware they don’t have the social skills I feel as they are never bored.

I think by creating something wonderful we have created a whole load of problems for generations to come.
