What is good about having a pet?

I am lucky enough to have 2 cats and a dog.

The cats we have had for about 5 years. We believe they are mother and daughter.

They never stray far from the house and run out of nowhere when they hear the car pull up or the chatter of the girls as they return from school.

We live at the end of a cul de sac and when the girls were younger they’d swaddle the cats in blankets pop them into their toy prams and wander round the house.

Initially I thought they were being unintentional cruel but then to my delight I discovered the cats loved it, in face they’d jump into the prams on their own accord.

Now the weather has turned it’s cold, wet and miserable the cats are in all the time on one bed or another.

They particularly like the two youngest girls beds as they have lots of toys.

At bedtime each cat will be on one of the others bed. They snuggle up to the girls purring and mewing softly.

It brings the girls calm, relaxes them.

School can be challenging and even at their young ages they worry about homework and school stuff.

It prepares them to give themselves up to sleep.

We all love these cats deeply for how annoying they can be crying for food constantly it’s sort the pain.

Chloe our dog is just lovely.

She never complains, always so happy to see you. Walking by me wagging her tail just happy to be in my presence.

Today I had to leave her while I went to the shops.

She jumps up to the window and watches me go making me feel terrible to leave her.

On my return she was there with my gloves, not destroyed just sniffing my scent.

She protects her family barks if she senses something is wrong. She loves the girls fiercely and is so happy when they return from school.

The good things about having pets is the calm they can bring you.

They love you unconditionally and don’t care who you are or what you look like.

They are only happy that you choose them for your journey.
